Silkies
They are renowned for there unique fluffy appearance, with soft, silky feathers and can become very tame quite quickly so they are great as pets.
Silkie’s are virtually flightless so they only require very low fencing.
Silkie’s make amazing broodies mainly because of their friendly and trusting nature. If you leave a hen to lay a clutch of eggs you can nearly be sure that she will sit and brood them, 21 days later you should have cute little Silkie chicks running around. (well as long as the eggs are fertile)
Our birds have been purchased from very good stock and are all to standard with the correct 5 toes and blue / purple skin..
Black has been bred into this line of cuckoo silkies several times as we are now trying to get them closer to standard.
They lay a good number of medium sized white eggs.
All our birds are free range and have access to lush green grass.
The silkie's that we breed are all Large fowl, the colours are
white silkies and bearded cuckoo silkies.
